Is it possible to record BRAW using an SD card with Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K?

Question

Is it possible to record Blackmagic RAW (BRAW) using an SD card with BMPCC4K?

Answer

Is possible.
However, recording at high bit rates is restricted.

I often see guidance that states that an SSD is required to operate BMPCC4K, but I don't think that is necessarily correct guidance.
I certainly think that using an SSD is the correct way to record high bitrates at a low cost.

But what do you think? Do you want to record at that high bitrate?

I usually record at a fixed BRAW bit rate of 8:1 30fps.
It can also be recorded on 512MB SDXC UHS-I media that was purchased for other purposes and is sold for around 8,000 yen. (This is not a recommendation.)

Compared to an external SSD, there is no installation effort, and there are no cables and troubles.
Although we are still investigating, we expect the battery life to be longer than that of an SSD.

It is certainly not recommended by the manufacturer, but if you are using it outside of work, I hope you will consider it as an option.

Officially, the following recommended media list is published.
