Reasons why “Optimize DaVinci Neural Engine” is displayed and countermeasures

Question

Please tell me why "Optimize DaVinci Neural Engine" is displayed when starting up and what to do.

Answer

Optimize the DaVinci Neural Engine settings used in DaVinci Resolve according to the installed GPU/CPU. Displayed on first startup in 18.6.

Select <Optimize> and wait for a while.

Depending on the specs of your PC, it will take about 3 to 10 minutes.

This allows you to use DaVinci Resolve in a state optimized for the DaVinci Neural Engine.

However, if you have problems with the operation or want to disable DaVinci Neural Engine's optimization, you can disable it from the environment settings. [DaVinci Resolve] - [Preferences] - "System" tab - "Memory & GPU" - GPU configuration - Uncheck "Use DaVinci Neural Engine optimization with NVIDIA" and restart DaVinci Resolve.

Please note that even if you are using an NVIDIA graphics card, the "Use DaVinci Neural Engine optimization with NVIDIA" menu may have disappeared from 18.6.1.
This is likely due to the GPU not being equipped with Tensor Cores, which is a prerequisite for using DaVinci Neural Engine on NVIDIA. Tensor cores are installed in the RTX20 series and later, and are not included in the GTX16 and GTX10 series, so they are no longer displayed in the menu. (In other words, the problem was that this menu was displayed even on GPUs that did not have Tensor cores.)
