Can I sort search results in Fairlight's sound library?

Question

Can I sort search results in Fairlight's sound library?

Answer

The Fairlight page "Sound Library" does not have a sorting function, but there is an alternative.

In my personal opinion, it's easier to use the power bin than the sound library. You can sort them, and you can use the sound library material from the edit page without switching to the Fairlight page.

Once you have the material (footage) from your sound library in the media pool, you can sort it, so using this method you can do what you want.
Note that this workaround does not use the "Set Sync Points" feature available in Fairlight's "Sound Library".

There are two patterns:

  • How to register Fairlight's sound library to [Media Pool]-[Master] for audio materials used for each project
  • How to register all Fairlight sound libraries in [Media Pool]-[Power Bin] in advance

We recommend using the "power bin", which makes it easy to use in other projects.

How to register to [Media Pool]-[Master] for each project

Preparation

Drag (or add using "Audition") the sound source you are interested in from the sound library onto the timeline. Since this is only for registering to the [Media Pool], you can put it on a track that is not being used.

With this, the corresponding sound source data is imported to the master of the media pool.

Select "Media Pool" and switch to "List View"

If you need the "Description" that was displayed in the "Sound Library" list, right-click the column title and check "Description".

Sorting method

Open the Media Pool in List View and click a column title

How to register everything in [Media Pool]-[Power Bin] in advance

This is an application when registering to [Media Pool] - [Master], but if you register all the sounds managed by the sound library in the "Power Bin", you can import them from the sound library onto the timeline each time. You can use it as an alternative to the "sound library" without any extra work. (It is the same as importing to the master that "sync point" cannot be used.)

Preparation

Register using the same procedure as registering video to Power Bin.

The easiest way is to drag and drop files from Explorer or Finder to Power Bin.

When registering a folder

Please drag the folder while the master of the power bin is open.

Select "Media Pool" and switch to "List View"

If you need the "Description" that was displayed in the "Sound Library" list, right-click the column title and check "Description".

Sorting method

Open the Media Pool in List View and click a column title
