Is there a way to save a still image from the video being edited?

Question

Is there a way to extract a still image from the video being edited? Also, what is the standard for resolution in that case?

Answer

You can create with color page and fusion page. However, depending on the page, the behavior of the resolution differs depending on whether it can be output. Since it is affected by the timeline resolution, we will also explain how to change the timeline resolution later.

color page

You can save it by right-clicking on the preview and selecting "Save Still". The resolution in this case depends on the timeline resolution. (If the material is 4K and the timeline is 1920×1080, the output still image is 1920×1080)

Fusion page

You can right click on the preview and save it with "Save Image".
Saved at the clip's original resolution (source resolution).
(If the material is 4K and the timeline is 1920 x 1080, the output still image is 4K.) However, as it is, color changes in DaVinci Resolve and overlaying different tracks such as titles cannot be saved as still images. Combining them in compound clips can reflect these changes, but they are saved at the resolution of the timeline resolution. (If the material is 4K and the timeline is 1920×1080, the output still image is 1920×1080)

How to change timeline resolution

Right-click the timeline clip in the media pool and select [Timeline]-[Timeline settings]

Uncheck "Use project settings"

Select your desired timeline resolution<OK>
