Is it possible to use an external HDD as a cache drive?

Question

Is it possible to use an external HDD as a cache drive? I've heard that setting the cache to the built-in SSD shortens its life, and I'd like to avoid it. Is it appropriate for operation?

Answer

The cache must be fast to write to and read from. Since the purpose is to increase the playback speed, it is common to use a built-in SSD with good response as much as possible for cache. Some people use SSD only for cache.

Certainly, many people are concerned about the lifespan of caches that are frequently read and written. For such people, there is also a high endurance SSD for cache as follows.

I think there are opinions about what to do with a notebook PC. Ideally, we recommend that you purchase one with a large-capacity SSD.
